This specification is approved for use by all Departments
and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers tinsel cords of various constructions, suitable for use with
telephones, switchboards, microphones, and associated equipment under varying atmospheric
conditions.
1.2.1 Part or identifying number (PIN). The PIN consists of the letter M, the basic specification
number, a forward slash, and a detail specification number as shown in the following example (see 3.1):

1.2 Classification. Cords covered by this specification are of the styles, as specified (see 3.1 and 6.2).
