DETAIL SPECIFICATION SHEET
CABLE, POWER ELECTRICAL, 600 VOLTS, FOR OUTBOARD USE ONLY
(NOT FOR INBOARD USE), TYPE MCSF-4
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the
Department of Defense.
The requirements for acquiring the product described herein shall consist of this specification
sheet and the issue of MIL-DTL-915 listed in that issue of the Department of Defense Index
of Specifications and Standards (DoDISS) specified in the solicitation.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualification required.
Construction (watertight)
First
- Two conductors AWG No. 6, class G stranding, and two conductors AWG
No. 1, class G stranding. Stranding shall be 7 by 7 for the no. 6 and 7 by 19 or
19 by 7 for the No. l. Strands shall be 0.025-inch nominal diameter drawn
copper alloy in accordance with ASTM B 105 alloy 85.
Second - A separator tape over each conductor.
Third
- Synthetic rubber insulation, 0.070-inch nominal wall thickness on all
conductors. Color code one black and one white conductor of each size.
Fourth - Insulation jacket of clear polyamide in accordance with ASTM D 4066.
Nominal wall thickness of 0.003 inch.
Fifth
- The four conductors (one black and one white of each size) cabled together -
maximum length of lay 20 inches. The No. 6 conductors shall be diametrically
opposite to each other. Either nonfibrous or a combination of nonfibrous and
fibrous fillers may be used to form a firm, well-rounded assembly.
Sixth
- Binder or combination binder and barrier.
Seventh - Reinforced polychloroprene jacket required. Nominal jacket thickness 0.125
inch. Cable surface marking required.
