DETAIL SPECIFICATION
CABLES, ELECTRIC, LOW SMOKE HALOGEN-FREE, FOR SHIPBOARD USE
GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers low smoke halogen-free electric cable for Navy shipboard applications.
1.2 Classification. Cables covered by this specification are classified as watertight, watertight (with circuit
integrity), and non-watertight constructions, armored, and unarmored, unarmored with overall shield and further
classified for flexing and nonflexing service for power, lighting, control, communications, instrumentation and
electronic applications (see supplement). A part number for cable is as specified in 1.3 and the applicable
specification sheet.
1.3 Part number or identifying number (PIN). PINs to be used for low smoke halogen-free electric cable
acquired to this specification are created as follows:
